Special Procedures Technologist - RWJBarnabas Health At RWJBarnabas Health, Special Procedures Technologists are a vital part of delivering advanced, minimally invasive diagnostic and interventional care. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside interventional radiologists, nurses, and a multidisciplinary procedural team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care using state-of-the-art imaging and angiographic technology. As a Special Procedures Technologist, you will play a key role in supporting interventional workflows, ensuring procedural safety, and maintaining the highest standards of imaging quality, radiation protection, and clinical efficiency. - Preparing procedure rooms, imaging systems, and digital workstations for interventional and angiographic procedures
- Reviewing physician orders, prior imaging, and patient records to ensure accuracy and continuity of care
- Verifying laboratory results and confirming patient readiness prior to procedures
- Setting up sterile trays and preparing interventional supplies including catheters, guidewires, balloons, and contrast injectors
- Operating angiographic equipment and digital imaging systems to obtain high-quality diagnostic and interventional images
- Positioning patients independently and/or with assistance to ensure optimal imaging outcomes and procedural success
- Assisting radiologists, physicians, and nursing staff throughout interventional and special procedures
- Loading and programming angiographic systems, injectors, and imaging sequences according to departmental protocols and physician preference
- Monitoring patients during procedures using appropriate equipment and ensuring patient safety throughout the exam
- Maintaining strict sterile technique and adhering to infection control and radiation safety standards at all times
- Managing procedure flow to ensure timely room turnover and efficient scheduling of cases
- Maintaining imaging equipment, supplies, and radiation protection devices in compliance with regulatory and departmental standards
- Tracking procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and utilizing RIS and imaging systems for workflow and reporting
- Assisting with image processing, digital archiving, and transmission of procedure images using departmental systems
- Serving as a preceptor and resource for new technologists and students rotating through the department
- Participating in ongoing training, system updates, and competency validation to support departmental advancement

To be considered for this Special Procedures Technologist opportunity:
- You are a graduate of an approved AMA School of Radiologic Technology
- You hold a current New Jersey Radiologic Technologist License (required)
- You maintain current BLS Healthcare Provider certification
- ARRT certification is preferred
- You have successfully completed required orientation and competency programs
- Experience in Interventional Radiology, Angiography, or Special Procedures is strongly preferred
