Kennedy Jenks is seeking an experienced Senior Pipeline Project Manager in Virginia to lead high-impact water and wastewater pipeline projects while strengthening client relationships, supporting market growth, and developing technical teams.


This role balances project delivery, client engagement, business development, and mentoring across complex conveyance infrastructure programs, including water transmission, wastewater collection, pipeline rehabilitation, and pump station-related systems.


You'll help advance resilient infrastructure solutions that meet client needs, support community outcomes, and expand Kennedy Jenks' presence in the water and wastewater market.


What You'll Do

As a Senior Pipeline Project Manager, you'll contribute across project leadership, technical delivery, client service, business growth, and team development.



  • Lead project delivery: Manage small to large water and wastewater pipeline projects from planning and design through construction support and closeout.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams: Guide engineers, technical specialists, and delivery partners working on water transmission, sanitary sewer, rehabilitation, and related conveyance facilities.
  • Direct technical work: Oversee pipeline planning, alignment studies, hydraulic analyses, condition assessments, rehabilitation strategies, and new pipeline design in alignment with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Manage project performance: Develop scopes, fees, and contracts; manage budgets and schedules; support quality control; and address project risks.
  • Support construction phase services: Review submittals, respond to RFIs, coordinate with contractors, and provide support through commissioning and closeout.
  • Grow relationships and teams: Build trusted client relationships, contribute to proposals and interviews, participate in industry engagement, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure, including significant pipeline and conveyance project management experience.
  • Technical knowledge: Background in water and wastewater pipeline systems, including design, analysis, rehabilitation, condition assessment, and construction support.
  • Certifications, licenses, or professional registrations: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia required; ability to obtain licensure in other states as needed.
  • Project delivery: Demonstrated experience managing budgets, schedules, contracts, quality control, risk, and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Driver license: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Preferred experience: Experience with hydraulic modeling and pipeline design tools.

Salary range for this position will vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
