Job Description/Summary: The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time General Maintenance Worker. The GMW will have the responsibility of a designated complex of buildings to ensure proper maintenance is performed, scheduled tasks are accomplished, the building's overall condition, documentation, service ticket completion, and complete general maintenance for the structures. The General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and general facilities maintenance. The GMW will be responsible for climbing ladders, replacing lightbulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, and responding to service tickets submitted by the customer. The position requires going on roofs, climbing ladders, lifting 50 pounds, fixing leaking sinks, moving furniture, installing blinds, repairing broken doors, replacing cabinets, and verifying all tasks are completed to ensure the building stays operational. The job will be located on the United States Merchant Marine Academy Campus and will be working with a team at Kings Point, NY ON-SITE.
