Description
This role will provide global leadership for process engineering design of new and existing chemical manufacturing processes. Scope includes driving creative engineering solutions to ensure that commercialized processes are robust and deliver products that exceed customer requirements, cultivating strategic relationships with external technology and service providers, and mentoring the directly reporting team of global process engineers.

In addition, this role will partner with operations management teams to identify and develop scale-up of new processes and to identify and implement improvements to current manufacturing process technology. The leader will successfully prioritize and drive the project portfolio to effectively deliver optimum benefit for the organization.

Job Details

Role Specific Responsibilities:
  • Leads development and execution of process engineering project portfolio to maximize business benefit. Develops and communicates clear deliverables and action plans for the portfolio.
  • Leading high quality chemical process improvement initiatives and creation of detailed process designs.
  • Collaborates with R&D on new product roll-out and with global operations to drive new manufacturing improvements and opportunities.
  • Manages the global Aspen license and provides a culture of learning to progress user training across the organization.
  • Management of direct functional reports and seeks opportunities to develop the engineers to have blended development, design, and project management skillsets supporting the capability to evaluate, define, design, and execute innovation and improvement projects. Develops a dynamic team culture ready to support changing business and operational priorities.
  • Review and approve quality of work, efficiency, and effectiveness of process engineering team's performance, ensuring designs follow industry best practices and process safety standards.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, organization, prioritization, as well as routine status updates for the department.
  • Encourages decision making within department through guidance of each engineer in creative and innovative problem solving.
  • Assesses regulatory and compliance requirements and engages appropriate internal and external subject matter experts to assure project implementation is delivered in accordance with all applicable codes.
  • Reports into the Corporate Engineering Director and carries the primary responsibility of managing a team of chemical process engineers that will deliver manufacturing process improvements and detailed chemical process designs for new or expanded manufacturing production processes.

  • Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members

Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required, advanced degree helpful.

Experience
  • 15+ years of experience in chemical process development and design.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementation of new process technology.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing engineering and technical professionals.
  • Experience and demonstrated know-how of chemical process modelling & scale-up.
  • Aspen+ Process Simulation and Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • Chemical manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in diverse chemical manufacturing industry,
