Join Our Nursing & Health Education Leadership Team: The University of Arizona College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time career-track faculty position serving as Program Director for the Master of Science, Entry to the Profession of Nursing Program (MEPN) in Tucson, a CCNE-accredited pre-licensure program. The Program Director provides leadership for the graduate, pre-licensure, clinical and educational mission, guiding curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation while fostering an inclusive, collaborative learning environment. This role is responsible for continuous program improvement in alignment with national, state, and University of Arizona requirements and represents the MEPN program across University, Health Sciences, and professional arenas. | Duties & Responsibilities |
This position is a career-track faculty appointment with additional administrative responsibilities as Program Director for the MEPN program in Tucson. The primary workload and expectations align with College of Nursing faculty responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, and service. Program Director duties represent supplemental leadership responsibilities that support the academic quality and operational effectiveness of the MEPN program in Tucson. Teaching & Faculty Responsibilities
- Teach and mentor students within the MEPN
program. - Foster a nursing values-driven
learning environment that supports student success. - Evaluate student performance and contribute to
curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement. - Collaborate with faculty, staff, and clinical
partners to strengthen academic-practice relationships. - Ensure compliance with program, College,
University, and clinical site policies.
Scholarship & Service
- Maintain clinical expertise through practice or
practice-related activities. - Engage in scholarly inquiry and dissemination
through publications, presentations, and grant-related activities. - Participate in faculty governance, College
initiatives, and special projects that advance the mission of the College of Nursing.
Program Director Responsibilities Under the accountability of the NHE Division Chair and in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Faculty & Academic Affairs and the MEPN Program Director in Gilbert, the Program Director:
- Provides leadership for the academic integrity,
delivery, and continuous improvement of the MEPN program in Tucson. - Leads curriculum implementation and innovation,
including competency-based education initiatives. - Ensures ongoing compliance with accreditation
standards and regulatory requirements. - Coordinates course scheduling and staffing,
including the assignment and ongoing programmatic oversight of on-call/per-diem instructional faculty within the MEPN program in Tucson. - Mentors and supports faculty, including workload
coordination and implementation of evidence-based teaching practices. - Collaborates with academic, clinical, and
community partners to advance program goals. - Oversees program evaluation and reporting and
communicates outcomes to College leadership and relevant committees.
Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate to the position. |
| Minimum Qualifications |
Rank to be determined by the college's Faculty Appointment Promotion & Tenure (FAPT) Committee. All ranks:
- Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or DNP) in nursing or a related field.
- Two (2) years of clinical experience as RN providing direct patient care.
- Demonstrated teaching experience and clinical practice or systems leadership experience, supported by certification or equivalent preparation.
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills, including the ability to make timely decisions, collaboration effectively, and engage openly with diverse perspectives and constructive feedback.
- Active Arizona RN license by the first day of employment and ability to maintain licensure, immunizations, CPR, and other college or agency requirements.
- Eligibility to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Care from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

- Administrative experience within a professional nursing education program.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in nursing education and curriculum oversight.
- Experience with curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Current appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor.
