Job Title: Manager, Individual Giving Status: Full-Time
Department: Resource Development Grade: Management Date Prepared: 05/15/2026 FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARY This position is responsible for the management of individual donor engagement which includes the following groups: Community Gifts, Leadership Society, Major Gifts, Planned Giving, and the supervision of staff assigned to manage these donor groups. Develop, manage, and implement effective strategies and tactics to cultivate new relationships, increase donor engagement, and in turn increase financial contributions from strategic donor groups to United Way's annual campaign. Provide professional customer care to individual donors and volunteers, ensuring quality follow through and overall satisfaction. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer. EXPECTED OUTCOMES Increase the contribution and engagement level of individuals within the above donor segments. Integrate all aspects of United Way's development strategy in work plans. Demonstrate effective division leadership. Effectively communicate United Way's value add to all constituents. TOCQUEVILLE SOCIETY PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
EXPECTED OUTCOMES Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective Tocqueville Society members providing excellent customer service. Effectively communicate United Way's value-add to all constituents. Increase revenue from major donor base. PLANNED GIVING PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
EXPECTED OUTCOMES Implementation of strategies to demonstrate growth of the overall Planned Giving program by building and maintaining relationships with current and prospective Planned Giving prospects by providing excellent customer service. PERFORMANCE STANDARD All United Way information is held confidential. There is no disclosure of any internal United Way strategic information, or volunteer, vendor and donor information. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage/supervise staff responsible for the management of the following divisions: Community Gifts, Leadership Society, Major Gifts and Planned Giving. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring or effectively recommending hiring, and training support staff; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance and coaching; effectively recommend performance-based increases; discipline employees; handling and resolving complaints and employee relations problems. ADDITIONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Ability to apply database management software concepts to practical situations. Proficient with computer applications such as MS Office, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, ANDAR, and Internet desired. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
