Fleet Equipment Specialist

General Responsibilities:
The Equipment Specialist will be responsible for supporting daily operations for the equipment procurement, inventory management and record keeping. Equipment includes but not limited to, geotechnical drill rigs, trailers, skid steers, commercial motor vehicles and more. The role will assist with the maximization of equipment utilization and perform duties to provide services in accordance with established operation procedures and company policies.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal customers.
  • Assist with processing purchase orders (PO's) and invoices and coordinate with the corporate accounting department on daily information requests.
  • Update and maintain fleet systems.
  • Subject matter expert on commercial motor vehicle fleet and DOT requirements. Specifically ton trucks to class 8 semi-trucks.
  • Develop and issue equipment reports as requested.
  • Assist in implementation and training for maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Enforces compliance with fleet policies and procedures.
  • Tracks the records, licenses, inspections, warranties and service agreements for the organization's equipment.
  • Interact with regional management at all levels on all aspects of fleet support operations.
  • Assist in the management of performance on key cost factors including safety performance, asset usage, fuel compliance, preventative maintenance, projects and vendor usage.
  • Track and maintain equipment movements (rentals, transfers, leases); communication with vendors required.
  • Assist with company equipment remarketing.
  • Interact with suppliers and vendors of products and services for the fleet.
  • Understand the basics of negotiating service level agreements.
  • Interact with representatives to obtain the best designed equipment possible for the fleet.
  • Plan and schedule logistics for equipment deliveries.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years' experience in the fleet/equipment industry. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years' of related experience.
  • Basic understanding of various vehicle classes.
  • Ability to produce concise, accurate reports and work comfortably with MS-Office to use Excel Spreadsheets and similar tools.
  • A valid driver's license with acceptable violation history may be required.
