This is an experienced individual contributor role requiring a candidate who can operate independently and engage effectively with stakeholders across all organizational levels-from frontline employees to executive leadership.
The successful candidate must demonstrate confident leadership in dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environments.
The primary goal of this role is to create measurable value for the Fleet Services organization. Success is achieved through working on business-critical systems and/or processes. They design, revise and implement processes and governance standards to meet customer & business needs. They exhibit autonomy in applying tools, methodologies and governance structures that align with business objectives for multiple departmental groups
- This position will recommend and execute strategic initiatives that align with departmental and group objectives, while managing competing priorities and maintaining a clear grasp of the department's strategic direction.
- A key responsibility of this role is supporting existing governance processes and applications already deployed within the organization.
- The successful candidate will collaborate closely with peers and managers in Fleet Services to develop standards, processes, methodologies, templates, and guidelines that support effective business planning, streamlined workflows, and robust business cases. This may include advanced modeling and complex analysis to support strategic planning. Success in this role requires strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent communication, and a consultative approach to relationship-building and decision-making. Responsibilities vary greatly throughout the year and at times can be ambiguous so flexibility, initiative, and the ability to prioritize tasks are required.
- This role focuses on the planning, execution, and long-term sustainability of solutions tailored for Fleet Services. It involves gathering critical inputs and shaping strategic priorities that align projects with business and technology goals. The successful candidate must be adept at translating abstract concepts into actionable strategies through interviews and collaboration with managers and leads. Clear and compelling communication of complex ideas is essential to gain stakeholder buy-in.
- This includes working directly with users for troubleshooting issues, identifying root causes, and designing and implementing effective resolutions.
- This position will work closely with business and EAM teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and alignment with strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and business process guidance to identify, analyze, and resolve challenges and advance opportunities.
- Deliver business analysis support, including requirements gathering and validation for business and IT initiatives.
- Design, revise, and implement solutions that meet customer and business needs.
- Lead change management and communication efforts across multiple departments.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive technical reports, business documentation, and correspondence.
- Ensure compliance with system-specific policies and procedures.
- Conduct data analysis and root cause investigations across multiple teams and systems.
- Provide technical support for work execution systems.
- Define and develop key performance metrics to evaluate system and business outcomes.
- Assist in the development of other team members through knowledge sharing to bolster their ability to support the organization

Basic/Required Qualifications for Business & Technical Consultant:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Technical Business Administration; OR Associate's Degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics or related degree and two (2) or more years of relevant work experience; OR High School Diploma/GED and four (4) or more years of related work experience in lieu of a degree
Basic/Required Qualifications for a Senior Business & Technical Consultant:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Technical Business Administration or related degree and three (3) or more years of related work experience; OR High School/GED and seven (7) or more years of related work experience in lieu of a degree
Desired Qualifications
In addition to desired degree, 5 years related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Work management systems - specifically Maximo and PowerBi reports
- Understanding of Fleet Services operations and programs
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet objectives.
- Experience managing multiple and competing priorities.
- Familiarity with IT concepts, project management, business case development, and IT strategy or architecture.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ESRI products.
- Advanced use of Microsoft Excel for data conversion, validation and interpretation
- Skilled in planning, data analysis, evaluating alternatives, and presenting recommendations.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical capabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership within Duke Energy
