Rental Territory Sales
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Territory Sales position is responsible for driving rental sales of Caterpillar construction and earthmoving equipment within an assigned territory. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong customer relationships, coordinating equipment delivery and setup, and conducting product demonstrations. Reporting to the Rental Branch Manager, the Territory Sales Representative contributes to company goals related to profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding equipment and allied product offerings.
  • Coordinate equipment delivery and conduct post-delivery follow-ups.
  • Perform equipment operation and safety demonstrations for customers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of customer interactions and territory strategies.
  • Stay informed on product knowledge related to equipment and allied products.
  • Research and recommend equipment, parts, or solutions to meet specialized customer needs.
  • Draft and finalize professional written communications with customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Manage assigned territory through routine engagement with existing customers and identification of new business opportunities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's Degree in business, sales, engineering, or a construction-related field preferred.
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate within the assigned territory.
  • Prior experience representing major heavy equipment brands, including aerial equipment and complementary earthmoving products.
  • Familiarity with rental equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, telehandlers, lifts, boom equipment, and related construction machinery.
  • Strong communication skills with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity, respect, and a commitment to high-quality service and safe work practices.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage customer relationships within construction or related industries.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to travel minimally to moderately within the assigned territory.



KNOWLEDGE, TECHNICAL SKILL, & ABILITIES


  • Strong understanding of construction equipment applications, specifications, and rental operations.
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships through effective communication and service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ability to learn company-specific systems and CRM tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple accounts efficiently.
  • Ability to conduct equipment demonstrations and explain technical features in a clear and professional manner.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and a strong customer service focus.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and initiative to achieve sales goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
