JOB TITLE: MATERIAL CONTROL LEAD DEPARTMENT: MATERIAL CONTROL REPORTS TO: MATERIAL CONTROL MANAGER CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT LOCATION: BLACKSTONE, VA Job Summary: The Material Control Lead supports material control activities at the assigned site and serves as the primary on-site point of contact for day-to-day material flow. This role helps ensure the accurate receipt, storage, movement, issuance, and shipment of materials needed to support operations. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day material control activities at the assigned location.
- Coordinate receiving, storage, inventory movement, material issuance, and shipping support.
- Prioritize daily tasks for site material control personnel based on business and operational needs.
- Verify incoming materials against packing slips, purchase orders, transfer documents, and system records.
- Complete and/or ensure timely inventory transactions in the ERP/MRP system, including receipts, issues, transfers, and adjustments.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliations, and issue follow-up.
- Stage and issue materials to support production, operations, maintenance, and other internal customers.
- Maintain organized stockroom and storage areas to support traceability, accessibility, and control.
- Identify shortages, discrepancies, and material handling issues and elevate them as needed.
- Support compliance with internal procedures for labeling, identification, storage, and material handling.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Production, Quality, Engineering, and other teams to resolve material issues and support workflow.
- Assist with reporting, inventory reviews, and process improvement efforts.
- Train and support site personnel on standard material control practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of experience in material control, inventory, warehouse, stockroom, logistics, or supply chain support.
- Prior experience in a lead role or providing day-to-day work direction preferred.
- Working knowledge of inventory control and material transaction processes.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems for material tracking and inventory transactions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Must be willing to train for and perform forklift operation.
- Recurring FOD training and awareness, upon hire and annually
- Recurring counterfeit prevention training and awareness, upon hire and annually
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated environment preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office. Experience with QuickBooks and MRP/ERP systems is a plus.
- Possess the willingness to learn, improve and adapt in a quick pace environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
The salary range for this position is $50,000.00 to $75,000.00. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education and training, job-related knowledge and skills, the scope and level of responsibility of the position, internal equity, and market/business considerations. The listed range is a general guideline and may vary based on the selected candidate's qualifications and work location, where applicable.
