MO-KS Transportation Professional Services Leader HDR has an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced industry professional to serve in a leadership position as the MOKS Transportation Professional Services Leader. Professional Services is an area of our organization responsible for section management, alignment of resources to achieve our Strategic Plan, developing professional services staff, and maintaining a quality culture. These practices improve our competitiveness and drive our growth. As PSL, you will report to the MOKS Transportation Business Group Manager (BGM) and work alongside the BGM to provide technical oversight and staffing resource assignments for Core Services projects across the Business Group (BG). You will coordinate with the TBG Business Class and Section Leads who serve as the technical delivery leads for the TBG Market Sectors. In the role, you will support the continued career development of Business Class and Section Leads. You will collaborate closely with HDR's Professional Services Global Directors and the MOKS Transportation Project Delivery Leader to implement the Business Group's technical and quality initiatives within the BG. In addition to your primary responsibilities as summarized below, the PSL will be responsible for collaborating on technical delivery and business development for opportunities within the area. You will also support recruiting and retention efforts for the program.

In the role of MO-KS Transportation Professional Services Leader, we'll count on you to:

  • Be responsible to the Business Group Manager (BGM) to develop, coordinate, monitor and improve technical competencies of Business Group (BG) staff and products to meet client needs and market drivers
  • Lead and monitor development and training of BG staff in technical and business competencies
  • Cooperatively coordinate workload balancing and ensure qualified staffing of project teams with the Project Delivery Leader
  • Actively engage in project reviews and support project teams with management of claims and losses
  • Develop and co-lead the BG mentoring initiative with the Professional Services Leaders in other MOKS BG.
  • Work with the BGM to streamline and coordinate business processes, consistent with the overall Area, corporate policy and Matrix of Authority
  • Perform delegated matrix of authority (MOA) responsibilities from BGM
  • Implement technical and digital delivery evolution in collaboration with Corporate Professional Services Director
  • Provide leadership to assigned section leads
  • Collaborate effectively with BG operations, market leadership / sectors, business classes, and delivery leaders
  • Participate in BG strategic planning and plan implementation.
  • Participate in key pursuit teaming, staffing discussion, risk assessments, and scope and fee development and review.
  • Support BG activities related to hiring and retaining key staff.
  • Monitor and provide oversight of projects to achieve financial metrics.
  • Actively participate in annual budgeting.
  • Develop and monitor recovery plans for projects not meeting established metrics.
  • Make recommendations for salary and staffing adjustments.
  • Lead and / or support active engagement in professional, industry and civic organizations.
  • Serve as a champion for TBG opportunities.
  • Support communication and coordination throughout the BG.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15 years' experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Excellent project management, leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Strong oral and written communication and listening skills
  • Familiarity with project management software

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience.
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading diverse teams. Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.
  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
