Under the direction of the Associate Director, the Clinic Nurse Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of timely, coordinated, and high-quality care for patients within the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Due to the complexity of the patient population and the fast-paced nature of the specialty, we are seeking a highly skilled and clinically experienced nurse with expertise in Hepatology, transplant care, Gastroenterology, or the management of medically complex gastrointestinal patient populations. This position supports a high-volume specialty practice requiring advanced clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities in a dynamic ambulatory environment. The Clinic Nurse Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing a broad range of clinical operations and patient care activities. A primary responsibility of the role includes comprehensive nurse triage support across multiple communication platforms, including telephone encounters, Epic in-basket messages, MyChart communications, and provider escalations. The coordinator will assess, prioritize, and respond to patient concerns related to liver disease, decompensation symptoms, medication management, treatment side effects, abnormal results, and post-procedure care using established clinical protocols and sound nursing judgment. The position requires close collaboration with GI/Hepatology physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely intervention, escalation, and continuity of care. The Clinic Nurse Coordinator is also responsible for managing pathology and clinical results communication workflows for the division. Responsibilities include coordinating Path Letters, ensuring accuracy of clinical documentation, facilitating provider review when necessary, and communicating results and follow-up recommendations to patients in a timely and professional manner. The role maintains close coordination with laboratory services, operational teams, and clinical staff to support safe and efficient care delivery. This position serves as a key resource for symptom management, patient education, and clinical follow-up. The coordinator will respond to patients reporting new or worsening symptoms, provide evidence-based guidance within scope, identify urgent or emergent concerns, and ensure appropriate escalation when indicated. Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through are essential components of the role. Care coordination is another central responsibility of this position. The Clinic Nurse Coordinator will work closely with schedulers, medical assistants, registered nurses, APPs, physicians, and ancillary departments to ensure patients receive appropriate appointments, procedures, imaging, laboratory testing, authorizations, and follow-up care. The role supports continuity of care by helping prevent delays, addressing barriers to care, and facilitating seamless coordination across the patient care continuum. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate and compliant patient documentation, supporting workflow optimization efforts, participating in quality and access-to-care initiatives, and assisting with implementation of new clinical workflows and operational processes as departmental needs evolve. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $190,342 - $190,342 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $91.16 - $91.16 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
