Overview

Under technical and moderate direction, support the daily service demands for existing risks of agents and underwriting team in a fast-paced environment. Form an understanding of underwriting and policy system transactions and provide direct support of underwriting either new or renewal policies for all submission preparation, subjectivity follow up, policy preparation and inspection reviews. Eventually work within a letter of authority issued by the underwriting manager on assignments of low complexity, hazard grade, and premium. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable.


Responsibilities

Prepare renewal files for underwriting, including collecting and analyzing updating exposure information utilizing available resources and document via underwriting summary report

Perform initial screening of submissions preview for underwriter. Gather, analyze and evaluate risk exposure using available resources (e.g. application, survey reports, preliminary loss history evaluation, prometrix, itv 360, convr, risk meter, stormer systems / reports) and document results per Quality Assurance standards.

Using a minimum level of underwriting authority; apply knowledge of coverage forms, rating plans, underwriting appetite and guidelines in selection and pricing of individual risks within letter of authority and at the direction of the underwriter.

Determine appropriate solution for the agent and take necessary measure to obtain information needed to resolve inquires/transactions as quickly as possible including rating coverages or providing multiple quote revisions. Respond to all inquiries in a timely manner on coverage, agent questions and making policy adjustments based upon granted authority level. Maintain a suspense and follow-up system for outstanding underwriting items.

Provide guidance to internal and external customers regarding various underwriting information including the MUSIC automated systems. Effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Reinforce the ease of doing business with MUSIC by meeting or exceeding customers' expectations and service quality on a consistent basis.

Process or assist in the processing of renewal policies, endorsements, manual policy issuance, handle BOR's in accordance with established guidelines and process reports and/or correspondence as directed by manager or assigned underwriters.

Act as a liaison for the underwriting team with Brokerage processing and operations in order to affectively have policies bound and issued and endorsements processed. Assist in the processing of policies, endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, reports, correspondence under the direction of assigned underwriters."


Qualifications

Demonstrate proficiency in the usage of all supplied desktop tools; including the automated underwriting system and email. Display confidence and a willingness to take ownership of a request or problem.
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to see the big picture while responding to changing conditions.

High school diploma or equivalent
0-3 years of Commercial Lines experience
Insurance Institute of America (IIA) Certification preferred.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
