Job Summary The Security Technician II is responsible for the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of commercial security systems, including access control, CCTV, and low-voltage infrastructure. This hands-on role involves fieldwork such as running and terminating cable, installing and programming devices, and supporting system commissioning. The position requires adherence to safety standards, technical specifications, and construction timelines. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term career growth potential and ongoing training. Job Responsibilities
Install and configure security systems, including cameras, maglocks, card readers, and related devices
Install and troubleshoot access control components such as panels, readers, strikes, and locking hardware
Install, configure, and troubleshoot IP and analog camera systems and network video recorders (NVRs)
Perform basic configuration of CCTV and access control software, including device setup, scheduling, and system management
Pull, route, terminate, label, and dress low-voltage cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, and control wiring
Build and organize equipment racks, including patch panels and cable management systems
Install cable pathways such as J-hooks and D-rings and maintain proper cable management practices
Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and construction drawings
Support system commissioning, including device enrollment, testing, and adjustments
Troubleshoot wiring issues, device failures, and network connectivity problems
Coordinate work with project teams, including electricians, IT personnel, and contractors
Maintain accurate documentation, including daily reports, redlines, and test results
Identify and communicate field issues to supervisors or project managers
Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and maintaining a clean job site
Assist with project closeout activities, including punch list completion and client walkthroughs
Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial security system installation
Minimum 3 years of experience with access control systems
At least 1 year of experience with IP addressing and basic network troubleshooting
Working knowledge of low-voltage cabling standards and installation practices
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project documentation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in team environments
Ability to follow safety standards and job site protocols
Physical ability to work on ladders and lifts, in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods

Typical work schedule: Start time between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM, ending between 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM
Work environment: Commercial construction sites
Required tools: Basic low-voltage hand tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, snips, punch-down tool, tape measure, flashlight, gloves, and tool pouch
PPE requirements: Work boots (steel toe or composite toe) and standard job site protective equipment
