USC is a leading private research university located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles - a global center for arts, technology, and international business. As the largest private employer in the city - responsible for more than $5 billion annually in economic activity in the region - we offer the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment in careers that span a broad spectrum of talents and skills. The USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences is seeking a Project Assistant in the Department of Psychology. The largest and oldest of the USC schools, USC Dornsife functions as the academic core of the university, offering courses and advancing knowledge across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.

The Race, Disparities, and Intervention (RDI) Lab in the Psychology Department at USC focuses on reducing disparities in behavioral health by optimizing treatments for high-risk populations, particularly under-resourced ethnic minority youth. Our lab uses randomized trials, longitudinal methods, and meta-analysis to address important questions about treatment effects and mechanisms with (1) externalizing youth, (2) youth/adults in criminal justice settings, and (3) ethnic minorities with behavioral health concerns. With funding from the William T. Grant Foundation, we are currently evaluating the effects of peer coach training (PCT), a school-based intervention based on the counterintuitive notion that discipline-referred middle-school youth might benefit when trained to act as change agents for their peers.

This bachelors-level project assistant position involves helping with management of research activities in the RDI Lab at USC. The position requires that employee perform a variety of research-related and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities include: Collecting and entering data, coding, recruiting participants, conducting literature searches, developing and updating study protocols, preparing and editing documents, managing grants, assisting undergraduate and graduate students with research activities, coordinating with community-based agencies, managing websites, assisting with class/course management, scheduling meetings, creating and organizing files, performing routine office tasks, handling other miscellaneous duties necessary to complete research projects, and performing other duties as assigned or requested.Employee will also need to learn and work with various survey, data management, and data analysis programs including: Comprehensive Meta-Analysis, Qualtrics, REDCap, and SPSS.

Preferred qualifications:

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience involving data collection and data management.

Compensation

The hourly range for this position is $26 - $30. When determining an offer, the University of Southern California considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education, training, key skills, internal peer alignment, applicable laws, contractual requirements, grant funding, and market conditions.
