POSITION SPECIFICS

This Postdoctoral appointment supports an ongoing international research program on the rural invasion and control of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes and dengue virus in the Peruvian Amazon. The position is designed to combine data analysis of past and current field studies with periodic incountry field engagement. The Postdoctoral Scholar will collaborate closely with the PI and research partners to manage field activities, analyze data, and communicate findings through peerreviewed publications and academic presentations. The job responsibilities include:

1. Data Analysis and Manuscript Preparation

  • Analyze existing datasets from completed research conducted in Peru.

  • Prepare manuscripts and submit for publication in collaboration with PI Kara Fikrig.

  • Assist with preparation of related grant proposals and reports that utilize the data.

  • Present research findings in internal meetings and external academic venues, selected strategically in consultation with the PI.

2. Field Study Coordination

  • Oversee an ongoing research study at field sites in the Loreto region of Peru.

  • Participate in field-based data collection in Loreto, Peru, with field trips strategically timed based on project needs.

  • Provide year-round support to the field team, ensure timely communication, and maintain high data quality standards.

  • Coordinate research activities and timelines in collaboration with the PI and field partners.

  • Present research findings in internal meetings and external academic venues as appropriate.

  • Provide guidance to field team and trainees involved in the project.

  • Communicate regularly with internal and external collaborators to coordinate research activities, share progress, and support joint publications.

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in entomology, biology, public health, epidemiology, or other relevant fields and be able to provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D. prior to the effective date of hire.
