Summary:

Parker Aerospace MFCD is seeking a Facilities Intern to support site layout documentation and space-planning efforts in a high-performance aerospace manufacturing environment. This internship provides hands-on experience creating and maintaining accurate facility drawings, validating field conditions, and developing future layout concepts to support upcoming projects. Primary focus areas include updating plant layouts in AutoCAD, confirming measurements and spacing, producing controlled CAD/PDF deliverables, and supporting facilities planning discussions with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

The Facilities Intern will support priority facilities initiatives by updating existing layouts, creating new layout options, and ensuring drawing accuracy and usability. Key activities include:

  • Plant layout updates (current state): Update and maintain accurate plant layouts reflecting recent facility changes, producing current controlled versions in CAD and PDF formats.

  • Field verification and measurement: Confirm dimensions, equipment placement, spacing, and clearances by performing site walkdowns and measurement checks to validate drawing accuracy.

  • Future-state layout development: Create proposed "future" layout concepts/options for upcoming projects, including alternative configurations and space utilization scenarios.

  • Drawing standardization and documentation: Apply drafting standards, naming conventions, and revision control; ensure drawings include key references (scale, legends, critical dimensions, etc.).

  • Stakeholder coordination: Collaborate with Facilities, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, EHS, and other site partners to gather requirements, incorporate feedback, and align layouts to operational needs.

  • Change tracking: Document changes made between revisions and maintain an organized file structure to support ongoing site planning and audits.

Deliverables (By End of Internship)

  • Updated current-state plant layout(s) in AutoCAD and PDF reflecting validated field conditions.

  • Documented measurement/verification results (notes and marked-up drawings) confirming spacing and accuracy.

  • A set of future-state layout option(s) for identified upcoming projects, including key assumptions and constraints.

  • Drawing package with revision history, standardized formatting, and an organized file set ready for internal use.

  • End-of-internship report-out summarizing work completed, key changes, recommendations, and next steps.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program (e.g., Facilities/Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field).

Working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D drafting; 3D or Revit is a plus).

Ability to perform accurate measurements and translate field conditions into precise drawings.

Strong attention to detail, organization, and document control habits.
