What You Will Do:

The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Johns Hopkins is an 18-bed unit. The unit cares for a variety of post-operative surgical cases. These can include but are not limited to: Abdominal Transplant, GI Surgery, Trauma, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Ortho/Neuro Spine procedures, and General Surgery. Patients are admitted directly from the operating room, other units, and other hospitals. The SICU team is composed of a unit-based multi-disciplinary team of RN's, MDs, Advanced Practice Providers, Patient Clinical Technicians, Support Staff, Respiratory Therapists, and Pharmacists. The SICU takes great pride in providing high-quality post-operative surgical care every day. Teamwork is the common thread to everything the SICU does! Our RN staff work on a variety of unit-based projects embedded with evidence-based research and safety. The manager oversees operations, budget, and staffing, and is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating nursing care, ensuring adherence to Hospital policies and procedures while supporting the organization's mission and vision. This role is also accountable for maintaining high-quality patient care and driving continuous performance improvement through clinical leadership, staff development, education, and collaboration.



Who Should Apply:



  • Master of Nursing (MSN) (Required). Applicants with a Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a Master's of Nursing (MSN) program. One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 Years of Experience in clinical nursing (Required); registered nursing or nursing leadership experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) strongly preferred.
  • Previous clinical management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience navigating rapidly changing situations, from evolving patient needs to technological advancements, by remaining flexible, continuously learning, embracing new challenges, and quickly recovering from setbacks.
  • Advanced knowledge of aligned field and process in order to effectively manage operations.
  • Current Maryland RN license required.
  • Current CPR certification required.

Salary Range: Minimum 56.34/hour - Maximum 87.32/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
