Join Smithfield Foods as a Retirement Plans Specialist and help shape the future of our retirement and equity programs.In this role, you will provide retirement administration and compliance of our retirement plans - including Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution, 401k and other supplemental plans. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining strong partnerships across multiple departments and vendors by providing day to day support for plan administrative services, ensuring long-term value of our retirement programs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of all retirement plan transactions, including contributions, loans, distributions, and payroll-related feed and complex pension benefit calculations.

  • Respond to participant, HR, and vendor inquiries, delivering timely and effective issue resolution and customer service.

  • Manage payroll and vendor data exchanges, perform contribution reconciliations, and resolve data or processing discrepancies.

  • Support annual compliance activities, including nondiscrimination testing, Form 5500 preparation, plan audits, and related correction procedures.

  • Provide subjectmatter expertise on plan provisions and processes, serving as a resource for HR, participants, and external partners.

  • Collaborate on system testing for plan changes, payroll updates, and process enhancements; support employee communication and education initiatives.

  • Maintain retirement and pension plan documents, amendments, and operational controls to ensure compliance with regulatory and plan-specific requirements.

  • Contribute to merger and acquisition activities and partner with internal stakeholders, including labor relations, on retirement-related negotiations and data needs.

  • Participate in special projects and analyze plan metrics to support continuous improvement and enhance overall retirement plan effectiveness.

WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in HR, Finance or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • Workday or similar database experience, preferred.

  • Strong analytical/diagnostic skills with aptitude and passion for process improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive HR processes and to deliver high quality services.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  • Customer-focused and able to motivate and influence key decision makers.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office software, to include excellent excel skills.

  • Ability to research and analyze various types of data.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
