Communications Specialist

Job Duties
Supports the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of company-wide communication initiatives using multiple communications channels (e.g., traditional, digital), including the strategy and tactics, creative direction, research, writing, editing, and validation. Supports communication plans that successfully translate executive priorities and objectives into practical, creative, and effective strategic communication plans. Supports the selection of the most appropriate media channel(s) that will maximize communication impacts. Provides support in ensuring communications are best-in-class quality and meet FedEx brand standards. Leverages research and metrics to drive communications messaging. Supports the planning and execution of various corporate events. Supports the coordination of logistics for vendor procurement, event set up, on-site event support, and promotional communications. Maintains knowledge of and proficiency in using new and emerging digital communications channels and technologies. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree/equivalent. Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, business, public relations, digital media, graphic design, web design, or a related field is preferred.

Minimum Experience

Two (2) years of experience in supporting the development of internal and external media communications, strategic communications plans for corporate initiatives, or multimedia (e.g., traditional, digital, social media) communications strategies, or supporting the planning of events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Good writing, editing, and proofing skills. Knowledge and practice of AP Style and proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign) and Office 365. Good verbal communication, creative, interpersonal, project management, and problem-solving skills. Good organizational skills necessary to prioritize and manage various tasks and changing priorities. Highly detail oriented. Good deductive and analytical skills for identifying key takeaways from data and converting into practical communication strategies and tactics. Knowledge of how to use multiple communications channels (e.g., traditional, digital, social media) for greatest impact on audience. Proficient in customizing communications for intended audiences.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree/equivalent.

Minimum Experience

One (1) year directly related experience.

More advanced degrees may offset experience requirements. A related Master's Degree equals two (2) years experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of institutional or corporate communications with an emphasis on communication planning/analysis and exposure to print and non-print media strategies.

Ability to understand high-level business strategy and develop practical, effective communication strategies.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, organization, creativity, grammar, writing and human relations/relation management skills.
