QA/QC Support Specialist - GIS Mapping

Job Summary
The QA/QC Support Specialist supports the modernization of GIS mapping systems by validating and ensuring the accuracy of data migrated from legacy platforms. This role focuses on quality assurance and quality control of electric and gas mapping data, including spatial analysis, connectivity validation, and attribute verification. The specialist also leads testing efforts, supports system implementation, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure GIS solutions meet technical and user requirements. Job Responsibilities
- Perform data validation using queries and spatial analysis to ensure accuracy of migrated GIS data
- Review land base geometry, structure connectivity, and cable network integrity
- Verify attribute data for linear and point features related to electric and gas systems
- Update and enhance map symbology to improve visualization and usability
- Lead testing activities, including factory acceptance, system acceptance, and user acceptance testing
- Review and provide feedback on test plans, scripts, and related documentation
- Maintain testing documentation and track execution using tools such as Azure DevOps
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve data and system issues
- Advocate for end users by ensuring solutions meet functional and usability expectations
- Support additional GIS and mapping-related projects as needed
- Develop knowledge of mapping systems, processes, and utility infrastructure documentation
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with GIS tools, including ESRI ArcMap
- Strong knowledge of GIS concepts, including MXD development, spatial queries, and spatial analysis
- Experience working in a utility or infrastructure environment preferred
- Familiarity with testing tools such as Azure DevOps or similar platforms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- High attention to detail, initiative, and accountability
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Work Experience
- Experience with GIS data validation, QA/QC processes, or mapping systems required
- Experience supporting system testing and data quality initiatives preferred
- Experience in electric and gas utility mapping environments preferred
