National Grid is hiring a Senior Supervisor (Internal and External), Capital Delivery Supervision for North Andover, Massachusetts.

Job Purpose

The Senior Supervisor position is responsible for the daily management of union employee construction crews performing primary and secondary electrical work for the Substation In-House Construction team. The Senior Supervisor is expected to implement construction strategies and methodologies that maximize the safe and efficient execution of the assigned capital Transmission & Distribution substation construction projects. The supervisor is expected to provide clear communication of scope, schedule, and resource requirements while coordinating with the project team and deliver leadership and guidance for the internal National Grid crews and contracted resources.

Key Accountabilities
  • Supervise assigned department personnel to assure that construction projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in a high-quality manner to meet National Grid and regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Plan, organize, communicate, and proactively manage the daily operations of construction workforce as assigned to construct Transmission & Distribution substations and other National Grid facilities.
  • Communicate project requirements to ensure that personnel are assigned to the highest priority work.
  • Conduct employee performance appraisals and provide guidance for training and development plans.
  • Manage the company owned and rental vehicles, equipment, materials, and tools required for projects through effective communication and coordination with crews.
  • Develop, review, and submit required paperwork accurately and on time to meet department and project objectives (e.g. vehicle inspection reports, crane inspection reports, job briefs, expense reports, time sheets, outage applications, as-built drawings, etc.).
  • Understand and interpret the union labor agreement to ensure uninterrupted and safe workflow.
  • Estimate labor and material costs for proposed substation project work. Assist with soliciting quotes from vendors and contractors as required to complete construction scope of assigned projects.
  • Prepare and present periodic status reports regarding work assignments and construction progress while participating in department and project team calls.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology or 3+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal, State, OSHA, local, National Electrical Code, and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret project scope of work, prints, specifications, schematics, one-line diagrams, outage plans, trade prints, and contract documents.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and recommend effective solutions in coordination with the project team.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of National Grid's substation specifications and standards, safe work practices, clearance and control policy, and labor contracts.
  • Ability to work as a team and independently. Must be self-motivated and have strong time management and record keeping skills.
  • The ability to travel throughout the New England service territory (MA, NH, VT) and work extended hours and weekends as required on construction projects and emergency response, as required.
  • Possess and maintain a clean, valid state issued driver's license
  • Journeyman Electrician License in a state within National Grid New England service territory preferred.
  • Construction Supervisor License in the state of Massachusetts or having the ability to follow through with obtaining a Construction Supervisor License in the state of Massachusetts is preferred.
