Welcome to the world of land-based gaming. At Light & Wonder, it's all about the games, and our Gaming team builds cutting-edge technology, products, and content for the most iconic casinos and operators across the globe.

Position Summary

Bring our games to life as a translator between art and engineering, working closely with the game studio artists and engineers to ensure that the player-facing vision for the game is achieved. Other duties include managing and improving the content creation pipeline, working with game artists on asset implementation, and staying current on game industry tools and processes. Requires experience working with Unity game engine, excellent coding skills, and a good eye for detail.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Implement art assets in Unity.

  • Animating using timelines and scripting with tween engines

  • Creating shaders and VFX

  • Participate in the planning and implementing of game functionality.

  • Identify and fix code errors and performance bottlenecks.

  • Prototype and test game functionality and theme dynamics.

  • Optimizing graphics and best practices within Unity

  • Good troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Assist Artists and Engineers with technical issues related to the art pipeline.

  • Assist with documenting best practices.

Qualifications

Training and/or Experience:

  • BA/BS in Game Development/Art or related field (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).

  • 1 year game development experience or academic equivalent.

Must haves:

  • Experience with game assets (examples: shaders, particles, animations, VFX).

  • Experience with C# scripting.\

  • Working knowledge of 2D graphics (Photoshop, After Effects & Spine2D).

  • Understanding of game design process, and experience working with game development team.

  • Ability to identify errors and troubleshoot.

  • Ability to interact and collaborate with the immediate team, as well as junior and senior colleagues.

Nice to haves:

  • Working knowledge of Unity, Unreal or similar game engines.

  • Working knowledge of 3DsMax, or equivalent 3D experience.

  • Understanding of versioning software i.e. Perforce (Preferred), GIT, SVN.

  • Experience in profiling and optimizing game and render performance (GPU and CPU).

The targeted pay range for this role is $72,000- $90,000. The total compensation package for this position may also include applicable incentive compensation, such as an annual performance bonus. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, specific work geography, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

This is a hybrid role, 3 days a week in office based at our studio in Chicago, IL. We provide relocation assistance for out of state candidates.
