Job Summary:
The Associate Director provides financial analysis and reporting management for Feinberg School of Medicine, as part of the central Finance and Administration team. The role is responsible for analyzing the allocation of school and department financial resources, assessing and reporting on financial performance and faculty compensation, and developing related systems, strategies, and resources for monitoring and tracking the school's financial performance.
This position oversees regular reporting and analysis on financial performance to be shared and distributed with unit, school, and university leadership. The Associate Director consults with school financial leadership to identify areas for development of new, and enhancement of, existing financial reporting and process to aid in leadership decision making. This role is expected to design and implement systems to support financial operations throughout the school.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Serves as project manager for the development and maintenance of tools and systems supporting the on-going tracking of financial performance within the school. Leads efforts on project scoping, proposal and design development, deliverable validation and quality assurance testing, and implementation management. Leads associated steering committee efforts, acts as a liaison to internal upstream and downstream stakeholders and coordinates external vendor relationships on behalf of Feinberg.
- Oversees faculty compensation program, including data modeling, merit increases, salary coverage, and incentive compensation administration. Recommends policy and parameters for program management and implements decisions. Reviews and provides analysis on metrics, including salary benchmarking and equity assessments.
- Oversees complex funding sources, performance and projections, including comprehensive commitment tracking for the school (e.g. appropriations, Dean's commitments, NMCat, Chair Discretionary funds). Focuses efforts on streamlining and improving transparency of commitment tracking systems and processes.
- Supports annual budget process, including fiscal resource allocation and faculty hiring plan development based on allocation and distribution of referenced funds. Provides recommendations based on projections and availability of funding sources.
- Reviews department and school financial performance, at individual and collective levels. Prepares and improves department summary reports, school financial projections, and leads data collection and preparation of various internal and external survey reporting.
- Builds, maintains and updates financial models and related analyses. Consults and recommends improved systems and requirements to enhance deliverable reports. Recommends methodology and standards, representing Feinberg's needs as appropriate to enterprise systems and committees.
- Offers mentorship and project-based oversight within the finance and administration team, including the potential for direct supervision of financial staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field; OR 2 years of work experience in financial administration; OR equivalent combination of education and experience where similar knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired.
- 8 years financial, budgeting &/or preparing account reconciliations or financial statements along with financial analysis experience.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in the use of spreadsheet, database and word processing software.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $87,899 to $123,608 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
