4925 - Lab Services Coordinator Clinical Systems

Position Description:
The Lab Materials Purchasing Coordinator oversees the ordering, reception and inventorying process for the Gold room. This position ensures the timeliness and quality of a variety of dental prostheses ordered from a variety of laboratories as well as maintaining a tooth stock and a metal stock. In addition, materials, supplies and equipment are ordered and on hand for the purposes of faculty instruction/student education as well as ensuring the success of patient care in the clinics. This position is the liaison between the outside labs and the School of Dentistry, with an emphasis on maintaining quality products from the lab and determining which labs to send specific work to in order to reduce costs but maintain quality. As a strategic role, a good working relationship with all of the labs and a thorough understanding of each contract is vital to the success of producing savings. New processes will be implemented with cost containment and quality in mind. This position reports to the Dental Laboratory Supervisor.

Overtime or consecutive Sunday work are not conditions of employment.

Weekly Schedule:
M-F 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Materials, Supplies, Equipment Coordination - 30%

Package and prepare for shipment all impressions, articulators, and prostheses needing to be finished by outside labs. Order dental and laboratory materials, supplies, equipment. Analyze/coordinate cost savings for selecting the least expensive lab for specific prostheses while maintaining quality.. Help select work to remain for in-house technicians quality and for cost-savings. Check all digital prosthetic work flows for proper down payment. Unload, unpack deliveries of materials, supplies and equipment. Receive and sign for incoming shipments. Check contents against delivery receipts noting size, number, type, condition and other discrepancies; record shortages, overages, or other discrepancies. Note and report quality deficiencies, and follow up with the lab to correct. Maintains appropriate products for teaching/lab demonstrations.
Assemble, pack and ship materials, supplies, equipment for design modifications, repairs; coordinate delivery of dental materials, equipment, supplies, tools, etc.

Inventory Management - 30%

Keep an inventory of all prostheses as they are received and issued. Replenish stock and order supplies to maintain inventory. Take periodic physical inventories of stock for accuracy. Make periodic reports of breakage, loss and backorders. Arrange/organize storage space; develop organization systems; shelf and store supplies, equipment and materials. Inspect inventories regularly and maintain clean, orderly spaces. Enter and maintain information regarding work orders, material and supply requests, inventory, vendor or product information and related materials. Prepare inventory/financial reports as requested.

Customer Service - 25%

Provide information, answer questions, resolve problems regarding shipping, receiving, and storing of dental prosthesis, Denture teeth and materials. Issue and account for supplies, equipment and materials. Assist faculty with selection of materials/equipment to use for demonstrations/student procedures. Check patient account for minimum down payment prior to sending laboratory work out for completion.

Provide 10%

Provide undergraduate lab support as needed. Supervision/Oversight of

Personnel - 5%

This position also supervises/oversees the work of student laboratory personnel

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation plus two years of college coursework in a related field.
  • Two years of experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience in a dental clinic.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $25.34 - $34.32 / hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience
