Quality Engineer

Your Working Environment:

The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

To implement and maintain the Company Quality System and to ensure product and process quality/integrity meets appropriate regulatory/customer requirements. The employee will support the production activities related to the section 15 of A350 composite Assembly Line. As part of the Aviation Safety and Quality organization, the employee will be responsible for activity related to the expertise on product process and failure analysis with operational process surveillance.

Your Challenges:

• Develops processes, systems, and equipment to uphold quality, reliability, and system safety standards for company orprocuredproducts and services

• Performing Problem-Solving (PPS):

  • Perform root cause analyses. Recommends and supports the implementation of corrective actions that are necessary to reduce or eliminate nonconformance to design specifications.

  • Has the capability to work with the team and develop Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis(PFMEA) and control Plan.

• Provides review and analysis of quality system design to ensure the integrity of decisionsimpactingproducts and services

• Analyzes contractual, product definition, and specification requirements to develop ormodifymethods, procedures, and metrics for achieving quality standards

• Evaluates and provides dispositions for nonconforming materials, parts, and equipment

• Conducts scientific evaluations, audits, and analyses

• Tests and approves products, processes, equipment, and measurement systems

• Ensures processes incorporate configuration management andparticipatesin design and product reviews to meet quality, reliability, safety, and business objectives

• Conducts research, benchmarking, and analysis to improve process capability and product quality

• Performs root cause analyses and supports corrective action implementation to address nonconformance issues

• Interfaces with employees, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with requirements

• Utilizes statistical methodologies tomaintainor enhance safety, reliability, and process capability levels

Your Boarding Pass:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited Engineering program

• 3-5 years of experience in aerospace, quality,engineeringor related role

• Proficiencyin technical writing

• Proficient in root cause corrective action (RCCA)

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Ability to articulate complex issues to others.

• Abilitytomaintainconfidentiality in all matters is essential.

• Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills.

• Vision:Daily able to see and read computerscreensand other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents,reportsand engineering drawings.

• Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information andparticipatein communications.

• Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors):Able tooperatemost office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

• Carrying:Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

• Lifting:Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

• Pushing / Pulling:Weekly able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

• Sitting:Daily able to sit forlong periodsof time in meetings, working on the computer.

• Squatting / Kneeling:Weekly able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

• Standing:Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

• Travel: 5% able to travel independently and at short notice.
