Overview

Milton CAT is seeking a Service Technician to join our Steam Shop team, supporting the cleaning, detailing, preparation, and movement of heavy earthmoving equipment. This role also assists with yard operations and prep shop activities as business needs require.

This position plays a critical part in keeping our service, rental, and sales operations running safely, efficiently, and on schedule. If you enjoy hands-on work, take pride in doing things the right way, and don't mind getting dirty, this is a great opportunity to build long-term skills in the heavy equipment industry with a company known for stability and growth.

Pay Rate: $28.50 - $36.46 per hour - depending on experience. This is a union position.



Responsibilities

Steam Shop / Wash Bay Operations

    Clean, detail, and prepare Caterpillar equipment for service, rental, and sale
  • Operate steam cleaners and high-pressure washers to clean machines, components, and parts
  • Use approved chemicals to degrease and detail machinery
  • Support weld shop operations by cleaning tracks and equipment
  • Maintain pressure washers, wash bay tools, and related equipment
  • Mix and maintain polymer used in mud areas
  • Review and manage assigned work through the company's ERP system
  • Coordinate wash bay workflow to support service and production schedules
  • Complete accurate service documentation
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and appearance standards

Yard Operations & Equipment Handling

  • Load, unload, stage, and organize heavy equipment and attachments in the yard
  • Safely move, fuel, and position equipment in and around the yard and wash bay
  • Track equipment locations and maintain organization of yard inventory
  • Conduct basic equipment inspections and report issues as needed
  • Perform general maintenance and housekeeping in yard areas

Prep Shop Support

  • Assist with light mechanical work in the prep shop
  • Install, test, and adjust new machine attachments
  • Ensure equipment and attachments are properly prepared and operational prior to deployment

General Expectations

  • Provide coverage and assistance in related areas such as Yard Attendant duties
  • Occasionally work extended hours to meet customer or operational needs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Comfort working in wet, muddy, greasy, and outdoor environments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely climb on and around equipment
  • Basic computer skills (work orders, documentation)
  • Strong attention to safety and detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Dependable, positive attitude with a strong work ethic

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with heavy equipment or construction machinery
  • Experience in equipment cleaning, yard operations, maintenance, or industrial environments
