MRI Job Summary

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Supervisor is responsible for oversight & day-to-day operations of MRI team. As a working supervisor, our MRI Supervisor position manages staff schedules, assists in conducting MRI imaging studies, and recruiting into open MRI Technologist openings.

Essential Functions:
  • Conducts ordered MRI imaging studies maintaining high-level imaging quality. Effectively administers contrast, places IVs and communicates with patients for imaging exam expectations. Clinically competent in cardiac MRIs and breast biopsy MRIs. Strong ability to help onboard new technologists and provide coaching to MRI Technologists. Responsible for reviewing image quality opportunities with technologists. (35%)
  • Manages monthly MRI team staffing schedule and conducts performance reviews for team members. Assists in triaging equipment malfunctions or down systems by working with vendor and DH Engineering & BioMed teams. Provides real-time communication to team members concerning any staffing changes, equipment challenges, etc. Supervisor is a go-to for team when clinical questions or other questions arise. (35%)
  • Monitors supply par levels and works with central supply when items are low or absent. Participates in any new equipment or construction project decision-making for MRI spaces. Attends department meetings and respective team huddles. (15%)
  • Appropriately understands PACS system, managing images, and protecting PHI. Effectively and professionally communicates with Radiologists concerning orders, patient care questions and concerns. (15%)

Education:
  • Associate's Degree Required

Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years MRI imaging experience required. Required and
  • 1-3 years minimum 6-months of supervisory experience required. Required

Licenses:
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
  • ARRT-Radiologic Technologists - ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in how to operate MRI equipment and related technologies.
  • Competent in the performance of MRI cardiac & MRI breast biopsies.
  • Knowledge of how to address age-specific care needs of patients.
  • Effective interpersonal skills that lead to productive communications and collaborations.
  • Competent in interpreting physician order requests for all MRI studies.
  • Ability to exercise prudent judgement in selecting and configuring equipment settings to compensate for patient physiologic variances.
  • Ability to consistently produce high quality MRI images.
