Job Overview
The Director, Domain Data Products works with businesses domains to deliver data products, leading technical execution for assigned areas. The role translates product requirements into technical specifications, oversees data mapping and modeling, manages roadmaps and backlogs, and collaborates with platform engineers on data availability, cataloging, and creation of semantic layers as needed. This inspirational leader will ignite an internal team transformation focused on delivering new and innovative technology solutions to support the broader data goals of the business and T-Mobile. A significant emphasis will be placed on identifying talent and opportunities for innovation to ensure T-Mobile success in an increasingly competitive and fast-moving industry landscape.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define and develop the strategy for assigned business domain (Emerging Technologies, HR, etc.).
- Provide leadership and oversight for strategic direction, lifecycle planning and alignment with the capabilities roadmap for all aspects of data movement frameworks.
- Understand, consult and translate business needs into achievable, sustainable and innovative technical solutions and capability roadmaps.
- Build and lead a team transformation of full-time employees and contractor resources with significant focus on reducing the reliance and dependency of external resources.
- Consult with analytics and data science community leaders within the enterprise to evangelize and align the analytics strategy across all functions and levels within the organization.
- Continually assess and evaluate the impact of emerging technologies against strategic business needs and interpret business value for the leadership team in a consultative capacity.
- Develop and motivate a high caliber, team-oriented engineering and operations organization that promotes excellence and rewards results.
- Mature an advanced analytics technical Center of Excellence (CoE).
- Lead efforts to ensure the workplace environment supports a highly motivated and effective workforce focused on continuous improvement and best practices.
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent work or educational experience. (Required)
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent work or educational experience. (Preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in Software Development and Data Science
- 7-10 years of management experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Deep experience in leading software development, large scale implementation and operational responsibility of business intelligence platforms, decision support systems and reporting tools.
- Possess a thorough understanding of design and delivery including big data platforms and information management strategies in a large complex organization.
- Deep technical understanding of data warehouse and big data design principles, data quality, cloud architecture, data as a service, data security and integration best practices.
- Deep experience and proven success and flexibility in combining/crossing delivery life cycles using both waterfall and agile methodologies as well as extensive experience with enterprise level data architecture, modeling and securing data.
- Deep experience in Data Science, analytical problem-solving approaches and toolsets.
- Leadership experience in building and managing ad advanced analytics Center of Excellence (CoE).
- Ability to lead and drive organizational and cultural change as well as build and develop a high functioning team.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities demanding both rigorous attention to detail and high-level comprehensive solution.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with Hadoop (or similar), Teradata (or similar), and multiple analytics technologies.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Base Pay Range: $191,300 - $258,800
Corporate Bonus Target: 25%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as qualifications and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
