Position Summary

Location: Parker Aerospace Group - DSD-Irvine, CA Mechanical Assembler 2 - Fans, Pumps and Compressors - Motor Winding

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Assembler 2 candidate should have 2 to 6 years of related electronics assembly experience. On a production basis, the employee will perform various coil winding, stator sub-assemblies as well as full stator assembly on various product lines. These tasks are generally done by hand using specific tooling to reduce the risk of damage. You will need to make simple decisions but must follow established precedents. Works well under general supervision and has some responsibility for work output. Good understanding of products and processes. Able to troubleshoot stator assembly issues with support from supervision & able to work on a variety of tasks when needed.

Responsibilities:

Good understanding of coil winding, insertion of coils into stator stacks and making connections and basic assembly techniques.

  • Must be able to read, interpret and understand Drawings and AWIs
  • Hands on experience in manual motor/stator assembly
  • Intermediate coil winding, insertion, connection and forming end turns including using lacing cord to maintain shape
  • The ability to braze or solder connections
  • Winding coils using magnet wire in 20awg to 30awg sizes
  • Ability to insert coils into stator slot stacks and connect them using 1Y-1, 2Y and 4Y Neutral and without neutral.
  • Know rotation of connections for CW and CCW
  • J-STD-001 Certification preferred or ability to become certified
  • More specific assembly tasks
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Requires good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.

Education and Years of Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Three to six (3-6) years of related electronics assembly experience. J-STD-001 Certification preferred.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to communicate in English.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • As a member of the organization, the employee is expected to work effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner. Ability to listen to and objectively consider ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress, timetables and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions; addressing others by name, title or other respectful identifier and respecting the diversity of our work force in actions words and deeds.
  • This position may interact with other departments within the Company, such as Quality, Production Control and Engineering. The position requires strong cooperative teamwork, as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer skills will be needed to log into work orders, access time cards, and log workorders for special process.
  • Must be able to operate winding/braiding machinery, torque wrenches, digital multi-meters, up to 12kv Hypot, solder irons, cutters, wire strippers, crimpers, heat guns, common hand tools and the use of a microscope.

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $18.9/hr to $31.5/hr
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
