This role supports an innovative SaaS organization delivering AI-powered underwriting, data intelligence, and intelligent document processing solutions to commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance carriers, MGAs, brokers, and reinsurers. The platform enables insurers to streamline submission-to-quote workflows, improve decision accuracy, reduce manual processes, and enhance customer experience through advanced AI-driven decisioning.

The organization is focused on modernizing commercial insurance operations by replacing outdated processes and fragmented systems with a purpose-built, AI-enabled underwriting management platform. The solution empowers insurers to make faster, smarter decisions while driving operational efficiency and premium growth.

We are seeking a Staff / Senior Software Engineer who operates with an ownership mindset. This is a highly autonomous individual contributor role for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and can identify, architect, and deliver impactful solutions end-to-end.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical judgment, balances speed with scalability, and brings a refined sense of software craftsmanship — understanding when to build for scale and when to prioritize simplicity. You will own entire workstreams, influence architecture, and contribute to a high-performing engineering culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy — identify high-impact opportunities and execute without requiring fully defined specifications.
  • Architect and deliver scalable, AI-driven features including autonomous workflows, intelligent assistants, and advanced decisioning capabilities.
  • Design clean abstractions, intuitive APIs, and maintain high-quality, type-safe code standards.
  • Develop across the full stack — database, APIs, and modern frontend frameworks.
  • Write maintainable, production-grade TypeScript code.
  • Implement modern React and Next.js patterns focused on performance, scalability, and user experience.
  • Enhance and maintain a modern developer experience and technology stack.
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to shape technical direction.
  • Mentor peers through architectural guidance, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, observability, and performance optimization.

  • Hands-on experience with Next.js App Router (server components, streaming, caching, layouts).
  • Strong background building complex, data-heavy user interfaces.
  • Experience with Tailwind CSS and modern component libraries (e.g., shadcn/ui, Mantine, or similar).
  • Experience with type-safe API frameworks such as tRPC or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of frontend performance optimization, state management, and accessibility standards.
  • Experience working within SaaS platforms or startup environments.
  • Strong system design skills and commitment to writing clean, scalable, maintainable code.
