This position is responsible for defining and deploying the architectural framework(s) to ensure establishment of effective data and metadata management within Enterprise systems. This function is also responsible for designing and directing the ongoing evolution of a flexible and common architectural framework to meet Enterprise data management needs for a wide range of application architectures and storage technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The architectural frameworks for data and metadata management will include standards for: logical and physical data design, data modeling, integration and synchronization of data across systems, data management tools, optimization of data storage and retrieval, goals (business and technical), data availability, usability, security, and data and metadata catalogs.
- Defines and manages The Enterprise Data Management (EDM) architectural framework's evolution focused on supporting business goals for data availability, usability, and security; in addition to efficient use of resources.
- Promotes the benefits of a federated enterprise data model (FEDM) across the Enterprise.
- Selects and implements of tools to manage Hancock Whitney metadata.
- Defines Data Warehouses and Data Marts uses to support business and technical objectives.
- Defines standards for data auditability in support of Sarbanes Oxley and other regulatory compliance requirements.
- Defines appropriate use of data management tools, principles, and methods for all scenarios related to Enterprise systems development and operation.
- Ensures adherence to Standards, data management tools, and methods by project teams for custom developed and packaged solutions application systems.
- Ensures that data management requirements are considered during all phases of the Application Delivery and Support Lifecycle.
- Ensures compliance with SLCs and Information Security Policy and Procedures.
- Manages and monitors of The Enterprise Data Management Architecture Frameworks use by project teams for new systems and system support teams for system enhancements to ensure compliance with standards for: data availability, data retention, archiving, scalability, Security Auditability, use of data management tools and methods, metadata management, data integration and synchronization, use of the Integration/Middleware architectural framework, use of the Application and packaged solutions architectural frameworks, and use of storage devices.
- Defines data warehousing strategy incorporating a unified metadata model across the warehouse(s) and data marts
- Defines and enforces the standards for developing and maintaining key EDM artifacts.
- Coordinates the Infrastructure Architects on definition of infrastructure architecture standards for processors, storage devices, and networks to support the EDM architectural framework.
- Defines Extract, Transform & Load (ETL), and data replication strategies in conjunction with the Enterprise Integration/Middleware and Application Architects.
- Defines integration of packaged solutions data model into Enterprise Data Architecture.
- Identifies areas where changes in data management practices can add value to the Enterprise and improve IT efficiency.
- Ensures that vendor proposed and constructed solutions conform to the EDM architectural framework.
- Assists new system project teams and system support teams in the use of Data Management concepts, methods, and tools as needed.
- Mentors and trains solution and project architects to ensure a complete understanding of EDM concepts, methods, and standards.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by Senior Management.
- Incumbent is responsible for organizational integrity and business ethics as it relates to this position, and communicating this commitment to any applicable subordinates.
- Incumbent is required to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages employees and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- College degree - bachelor's in information systems, computer science, or related field and/ or equivalent amount of training and experience
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or equivalent preferred
- Executive leadership and staff management skills necessary to manage the Data Architecture functions
- Demonstrated leadership and experience in a multi-source environment; insourced, outsourced, etc.
- Strong technical background and experience with major experience with major vendor platforms/ technologies (SQL Server, DB2, COBAL Mainframe applications, etc.)
- At least 10 years of experience in computer industry
- At least 7 years of experience in Data Architecture
- Solid understanding of and experience with mainframe, midrange and microcomputing environments
- Demonstrated experience in working in a large complex technology infrastructure and planned business critical technological infrastructure
- Solid understanding of multiple system/ application integration principles and methodology
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience with operational/ technology architecture development, preferably within a financial services organization
- Proven interpersonal skills demonstrating effective interaction and communication with Executive and Senior Leadership stakeholders
- A high level of creativity and innovation in problem solving
- Highly refined organizational and planning skills
- Strong process design, development, and management skills
- Ability to achieve results through effective consensus building
- Superior computer skills including MS Office, advanced spreadsheet skills and database skills

- Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 50 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions.
