We are looking for a Trade Compliance Specialist to join Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis, the global leader in Raman spectroscopy, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS), and quenched fluorescence (QF) instrumentation for laboratory, process, and manufacturing environments. Our laser-based analyzer systems perform high-performance chemical composition and concentration measurement of all phases of matter in any installation environment.
What is the role about? The Trade Compliance Specialist will lead the development and execution of Optical Analysis's export and import compliance program, ensuring full adherence to U.S. and global trade laws, including export controls for analyzer products and ITARregulated items. This role requires a proactive compliance expert who can strengthen documentation accuracy, guide global trade activities, and uphold regulatory standards. The Specialist will provide strategic oversight, drive process improvements, and support secure, efficient, and compliant international operations across the organization.
Which essential functions will you perform? * Serve as the organization's Export Control Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing authoritative guidance on EAR, ITAR, and all applicable U.S. trade regulations. * Develop, implement, and maintain export and import compliance standards, ensuring alignment with evolving legal and regulatory requirements and corporate standards. * Monitor global regulatory changes and assess their impact on Optical Analysis operations and supply chain activities. * Maintain SAP GTS trade data including HTS, COO and ECCN, screening records, and all import and exportrelated documentation. * Main contact for customs brokers and carriers to facilitate imports and exports. * Troubleshoot and help resolve import and export discrepancies. * Review and validate export and import documentation for accuracy, regulatory compliance and record keeping. * Conduct routine audits of export and import transactions; identify gaps, correct system errors, and complete postshipment corrections and drive corrective actions to strengthen compliance performance. * Perform restrictedparty, ownership, and destination screening in accordance with U.S. law and internal controls. * Support shipping teams, providing guidance on compliance requirements and proper execution of export processes. * Partner with operations, logistics, legal, and other crossfunctional teams to ensure cohesive compliance execution. * Deliver training, guidance, and educational materials to employees involved in export and import activities. What qualifications are needed?
- 3+ years of trade compliance experience, including handson BIS licensing work in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. import/export controls such as EAR, ITAR, and related regulations.
- Skilled in HTS classification, countryoforigin determination, ECCN classification, and global customs/trade law.
- Capable of developing, enforcing, and maintaining compliance policies and procedures.
- Strong research and investigative abilities with aptitude for understanding complex regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting trade compliance across multiple sites or operational locations.
- Familiar with ITAR requirements, including recordkeeping, reporting, and controlledinformation safeguarding.
- Preferred proficiency with SAP GTS or similar trade compliance platforms; moderate Excel skills.
- Detailoriented, highly organized selfstarter with strong communication and problemsolving skills; U.S. citizenship required.
