Description

The Defined Benefit Project Manager for Special Projects is responsible for the general oversight and project management of defined benefit administration special project work related to plan termination, lump sum window, and other de-risking projects for the Employee Benefits Administration and Consulting (EBAC) Practice. As a special projects manager, the Defined Benefit - Project Manager works under general supervision of the Systems Team Director and exercises a great deal of initiative and independent judgment in the performance of all assigned tasks and projects. In this role, both technical and project management skills are utilized. This is a client-facing role. Some travel is required.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will:



  • Coordinate all aspects of assigned work for the EBAC Practice defined benefit special projects from sales transition to execution of all required notices and election kits based upon assigned projects; includes project management and conducting weekly status meetings with clients.
  • Coordinate various teams including systems updates, call center support and processing team for payment setup utilizing Milliman's proprietary defined benefit administration system.
  • Manage overall scope of work of assigned project work and identify where the request for additional services may be outside of the initial definition of the project.
  • Initiate and participate in Practice quality improvement initiatives, identify opportunities for improvement and document procedures.
  • Assist in the development and review of standard plan termination notices including NOIT, NTIP, NOAI and NOPB and lump sum window election kits.


What We Are Looking For

Required Professional Qualifications



  • 5 + years of Defined Benefit (DB) administration and de-risking project management, including plan terminations and lump sum windows.
  • 5 + years of project management experience.
  • Knowledge of all regulatory sides of defined benefit plan termination process including IRS and PGBC regulatory requirements and timing.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage and track numerous tasks, issues, and projects at one time.
  • Must have the ability to effectively manage project scope and client expectations while providing a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Must have the ability to accomplish tasks through others in an environment with no reporting relationship.
  • Must have a solid understanding of the defined benefit outsourcing market and product.


Preferred Professional Qualifications



  • SQL Server proficiency a plus
  • CPC, QKA, PMP, or QPA certifications


Personal Qualifications



  • Works well within a team environment and takes ownership of personal work product
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and other general office equipment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Excellent organization and time management skills


Location

This role is based out of the Milliman office in Dallas, Texas, but candidates hired into this role may work remotely anywhere in the US. The expected application deadline for this job is March 31, 2026.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $93,700 - $177,675.

For candidates residing in:



  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $107,755 - $177,675.
  • All other locations the salary range is $93,700 - $154,500.


A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
