Senior / Principal Structural Engineer

Purpose of the Role:

Within the Denver, CO Structural Engineering team, the Senior or Principal Structural Engineer will provide structural engineering services performing structural analysis and design calculations in conformance with engineering principles, industry standards, and applicable codes on small to mid-capital projects to Worley and its customers.

This position is in Englewood Colorado, working a 3-day hybrid schedule, and not eligible for remote work. Onsite visits to local customer sites are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural engineering design, including preparation, review, and checking of engineering calculations and design sketches for steel structures, equipment foundation, piling and concrete foundations for accuracy. Supports the processes for checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
  • Incorporates generally accepted engineering and design practices, techniques, and relevant regulatory requirements, for the control, development, and application of deliverables per customer specifications to support technical excellence.
  • Support colleagues by fostering positive working relationships. Builds positive working relationships with external parties such as the customer, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Perform job site walk-downs to observe new construction, assess existing conditions or features for suitability to retrofit or change of use.
  • Participate in department/discipline functions related to quality control of deliverables, staying current with codes, standards of practice and advancing technologies related to engineering delivery and construction materials.
  • Compile data and compute material quantities related to structural disciplines.
  • Ensures discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
  • Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares engineering studies, analyses, calculations, etc. Crafts recommendations and creates final documentation.
  • Determines technical issues, defines, and implements innovative alternate solutions, establishes pros/cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc.
  • Creates final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursues customer approval. May review similar documentation to assist others and reviews/authorizes work done peers.
  • Seeks input from knowledgeable sources, may participate in constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews to incorporate requirements into engineering design.

Qualifications:

Technical/Industry Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in oil and gas, mining and metals, or related projects.
  • Good understanding of ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360 and IBC.
  • Working knowledge of PIP standards.
  • Familiarity with Staad, LPile, MathCAD, MS Office suite.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD 2D and Navisworks 3D. AutoCAD 3D knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to perform job site visits per project requirement. Occasional local travel to site up to 20%, per project requirement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including engineering related vocabulary. Technical report writing skills to effectively communicate analysis and evaluation findings and recommendations.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with structural emphasis is required. Master's degree is preferred.

Must have a current Colorado PE license or a PE license in another state with the ability to obtain a Colorado PE license. SE license in at least one state preferred

Additional information for Colorado:

  • This position will be based in the Denver/Englewood, CO area.
  • Salary Range:
    • Senior Structural Engineer: $123,433/year to $181,519/year
    • Principal Structural Engineer: $148,194/year to $217,933/year
  • Benefits: eligible for PTO, 401k, medical, vision, dental, etc.
