Energy Transfer is a master limited partnership that owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States. In total, the Company owns and operates approximately 84,000 miles of natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids pipelines, terminals, and acquisition and marketing assets which are used to facilitate the purchase and sale of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and refined products.
Summary:
This position supports Energy Transfer's Product Quality Assurance program through monitoring and evaluating the quality of refined products which are received into, transferred through, and shipped out of the refined products distribution system in the Philadelphia area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate test data to ensure products meet company and industry quality specifications
- Obtain product line and tank samples, perform laboratory testing on samples, evaluate test results to verify product quality.
- Conduct investigations into product quality events or abnormalities.
- Communicate details of investigations, including recommendations for the disposition of off-spec product and ways to prevent a recurrence to quality assurance management.
- Possess the ability to establish priorities, multitask and reshuffle workload based upon ever changing pipeline schedules.
- Perform duties independently with broad oversight from manager.
- Conduct other QA related duties to support the operation as assigned.
Special Considerations:
- This position is based in Aston, PA but at times, will need to provide support to other company locations in the surrounding area.
- Job requires ability to work a flexible schedule including 12 hour rotating shifts, 365 days/year.
- You must carry cell phone during off hours.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- HS Diploma.
- 6+ years of related industry experience, including the handling and/or testing of petroleum products or petrochemicals.
- Must be familiar with the safety issues associated with obtaining samples from both pipelines and shore tanks. As well as general laboratory safety.
- Knowledge of the key quality characteristics of refined products.
- Knowledge of ASTM Test Methods and API Standards.
- Fundamental working knowledge of laboratory testing equipment, product transportation operations and product specifications.
- Job also requires the ability to operate manual valves.
- The candidate must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both internal and external customers.
- Must have experience with MS Excel & Word and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- The ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Must be available to receive calls 24/7.
- Exposure to elements involved.
- In the event of an issue, you may also need to provide emergency response.
Working Conditions

- Typically, normal office and laboratory working conditions.
- Rotating shift work and extra shifts required.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Position is based in industrial/manufacturing settings which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, loud machinery, and will require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Will be asked to obtain pipeline samples year-round in all weather conditions.
