Patient Service Representative (PSR)
MaineHealth - Scarborough Primary Care
Location: 49 Spring Street, Scarborough, Maine
Schedule: Full Time, Consistent Schedule
Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

  • Friday 8:30 a.m. -5:30p.m.

  • (One-hour lunch daily)
    Work Type: On-site (no remote flexibility)

Position Summary

MaineHealth Scarborough Primary Care is seeking a Patient Service Representative (PSR) to join our team. The PSR serves as an important point of contact for our patients and helps ensure a smooth and positive experience at the end of each visit. This role is responsible for greeting patients, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and performing general office duties, with a primary focus on check-out functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to patients and visitors

  • Perform patient check-out, including scheduling follow-up visits and providing visit documentation as appropriate

  • Answer incoming phone calls and route messages accurately and efficiently

  • Schedule and reschedule appointments in the electronic medical record system

  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information

  • Collect co-payments and assist with basic billing questions

  • Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and clinical staff

  • Complete general administrative and clerical duties as assigned

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: Previous office experience with medical office experience preferred.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: N/A
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Proficient computer skills.
