Position Summary

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for executing activities related to Aerospace and Defense NPI (New Product Introduction) manufacturing, cost assurance, and NPI operations, as well as A&D NPI department administration. This role will report to the NVH A&D Business Unit Manager.

The Engineering Supervisor shall ensure all department activities are effectively coordinated with other functional departments (Design, Production, Sales, Quality, Purchasing etc.). The Engineering Supervisor leads project execution and provides direct leadership, coaching, and support to the Manufacturing/Process Engineers.

This role leads the Cost Assurance and NPI Production Value Stream, overseeing costs, processes, documentation, and the production launch of new products. The department designs processes, equipment, and products using Simple by Design, Zero Defects, and Lean Manufacturing principles to enable profitable manufacturing and deliver competitive advantage for Parker Lord and customers.

This position works closely with leaders and cross-functional roles across the organization:

  • Product Managers provide manufacturing feasibility, supply chain strategy, and product costing alignment with Design-to-Cost targets.
  • Production Leaders ensure a seamless introduction of new products, processes, and ensure alignment to production expectations.
  • Design Engineers ensure cost effectiveness and manufacturability, which will drive new innovative designs and define best practices for key processes.
  • Quality Control to support the resolution of manufacturing issues.
  • Supply Chain to support new vendor qualifications and resolve technical issues with vendors.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develops new production processes, adapts existing processes, and drives continuous improvement.

  • Establishes and/or leads the development of cost estimates using existing tools and production cost structures across multiple manufacturing plants.

  • Manages resource allocation to support new and existing programs.

  • Drives team engagement by applying Situational Leadership and the HPT Framework.

  • Directs the development of design concepts that meet product specifications, with a focus on safety, engagement, customer experience, profitable growth, and financial performance, aligned with the Win Strategy

  • Directs engineering change control activities for NPI and production products, ensuring completion of all applicable change control documentation.

  • Collaborates with RW & EAEA leadership to align Manufacturing Engineering and NPI production support for assigned projects.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of current engineering practices and applies them with attention to manufacturing requirements and quality control.

  • Collaborates with customers to review the manufacturing approach and finalized planning documents.

  • Conducts cost evaluations on low-margin products and drives corrective actions internally and with external partners.

  • Partners with key stakeholders to meet target costs, document scope changes, and manage cost increases.

  • Assesses and recommends make-versus-buy strategies for strategic products across various manufacturing locations.

  • Partners with Product Management, Design Engineering, Marketing, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing teams to support business objectives.

  • Keeps up to date on advancements in manufacturing technology.

  • Manages administrative responsibilities for budgeting, spending control, compensation and performance reviews, and capital planning.

  • Champions the use of the NPI LOP/LWI processes.

  • Performs other responsibilities as required.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience working within an engineering team environment.
  • Must demonstrate effective organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of product cost estimating, production cost structures, and elastomeric manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 15% to manufacturing plants, suppliers, and customers.
