Your role in the mission:

The Document Control Manager is responsible for helping to develop, implement, administer, control, and continuously improve Type One Energy's enterprise document control and document management framework. This role ensures that all Engineering, Program, Business, Quality, Safety, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Operationsphase documentation is created, reviewed, approved, distributed, stored, secured, and retained in a controlled, auditable, and efficient manner.

In addition, this role will be responsible for building, administering, and managing a team of Document Control specialists for the Company.

Operating within a highly technical and regulated R&D environment, you will serve as the enterprise authority and system owner for document control practices and platforms.

You will interface, coordinate and closely partner with Engineering, Program Management (PMO), Quality, Safety, Supply Chain, Construction, Operations, IT, Legal, Finance, and external collaborators to ensure document integrity, configuration control, and full lifecycle traceability across all the Company programs, including any current or future Projects.



Responsibilities

    • Help define, develop, implement, and maintain an enterprisewide document control and records management framework.

    • Establish and enforce document control policies, procedures, workflows, naming conventions, numbering systems, metadata standards, retention schedules, and document templates as well as ensuring accurate revision control, approval workflows, controlled release, distribution, acknowledgment, and archival of documents

    • Manage controlled documentation and records including engineering drawings and models, Bill of Materials information, technical specifications, requirements and ICDs, calculations, analyses, validation documentation, manufacturing and test records, Procedures, Policies, and construction/buildphase documentation.

    • Define document classification, access permissions, and information security requirements in coordination with IT, Legal, and Quality.

    • Ensure alignment between document control, configuration management, and formal change management processes.

    Company and Organization Interface and Support

    • Develop, establish, hire and manage a Document Control Team in support of the Company's plan, growth and mission.

    • Support Quality, Safety, and Regulatory teams by maintaining compliant, auditable records for inspections, external reviews, and regulatory submissions.

    • Support internal and external audits by ensuring document completeness, traceability, accessibility, and audit trails.

    • Maintain documentation required for supplier qualification, procurement activities, and contract deliverables.

    • Identify system gaps and recommend enhancements or new tools as the organization scales.

    • Train and support employees and contractors on document control procedures and systems.

    • Continuously improve document control practices to enhance efficiency, usability, and compliance.

    • Mentor or manage document control personnel or external support resources as required.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Management, Business Administration, Records Management, or a related technical field.

  • At least 10 years of document control, configuration management, or records management experience in a technical or regulated environment.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing or scaling document control systems in engineering, energy, aerospace, nuclear, construction, or advanced R&D settings.

  • Strong understanding of engineering documentation lifecycles and change control.

  • Experience supporting audits, inspections, or regulatory compliance activities.

  • Proficiency with electronic document management systems and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Previous experience building and managing a Document Management Team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in fusion energy, nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other highconsequence engineering industries.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ASME NQA1, BIM Level 2, or similar frameworks.

  • Experience integrating document control with PLM/PDM and project management tools.

  • Experience working with multisite or globally distributed teams.

  • Prior people leadership experience.

  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or similar enterprise systems.
