The Opportunity

As an Underwriting Assistant, you will assist underwriters by providing the initial risk assessment support for new and renewal business. You will also be responsible for delivering timely and accurate account setup, rating, technical underwriting support, policy issuance, and post issuance service for moderate to complex accounts. Duties will include but aren't limited to supporting insurance products; reviewing account coverages, losses, and additional data supporting underwriting decisions; collecting and reconciling account level data and accurately and efficiently develop pricing models.

Responsibilities

In this position you will:

  • Support new and renewal underwriting tasks for specialty insurance business units
  • Input information to increase the data quality associated with Statements of Values received from our producers to underwrite business.
  • Collect, process, and store all appropriate documentation according to internal processes
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders in support of underwriting decision making
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess the following experience/skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or experience equivalent in a related field
  • 2-3 years in a similar role supporting similar business types
  • Excellent customer service with ability to take ownership and drive issues to resolution
  • Highly adaptive and able to work effectively in changing environments
  • Working knowledge of Word
  • Advanced skills with Excel
  • Ability to work quickly and with little to no oversight
  • Appreciates a fast paced, team first, solutions-oriented culture

The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including Princeton, NJ. The salary range posted below applies to the Company's Princeton location.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in Princeton. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
