Job Announcement

Seeking an experienced Senior Secure File Services & Cloud Infrastructure Administrator to support and enhance the county's enterprise Secure File Transfer (SecureFTP) and secure content collaboration platforms, including Egnyte, Box Enterprise, and related technologies.

The successful candidate will:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure file transfer workflows for internal agencies, external partners, vendors, and public-facing services.
  • Ensure all solutions comply with security, privacy, data retention, and governance requirements in close coordination with the Information Security Office (ISO).
  • Integrate secure file services with Active Directory, identity and access management systems, automation tools, and application workflows.
  • Monitor performance, availability, and utilization using Dynatrace or comparable observability and monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot complex system, performance, and access issues, providing second- and third-level technical support for mission-critical environments.
  • Collaborate with Network, Storage, Database, Application, Security, and Cloud teams to ensure reliable integration and high availability across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud deployments.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and high-availability planning, testing, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical and operational documentation.
  • Provide after-hours and emergency support as required.

This role is critical to delivering secure, compliant, highly available, and scalable file exchange and collaboration services across multiple county agencies, external partners, and the public. The position requires strong expertise in enterprise infrastructure, cloud computing concepts, security controls, automation, and operational governance, with responsibility for third-level escalation support for countywide, mission-critical systems.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:(Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies for "Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to") Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, or closely related field; plus one year's systems programming experience in a complex information systems environment.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience administering enterprise Secure File Transfer (SecureFTP) and secure file sharing platforms such as Egnyte, Box Enterprise, Axway, GoAnywhere, or similar solutions in a large enterprise or government environment.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing secure file transfer workflows for internal users, external partners, vendors, and public-facing services while meeting security, privacy, data retention, and governance requirements.
  • Strong hands-on experience integrating secure file services with Active Directory, identity and access management (IAM), SSO, MFA, and role-based access controls.
  • Experience supporting hybrid and cloud environments (on-premises and public cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS) and integrating secure file services with enterprise applications and automation workflows.
  • Working knowledge of information security principles, including encryption, data loss prevention, auditing, compliance, and coordination with an Information Security Office (ISO).
  • Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace or equivalent to monitor performance, availability, utilization, and troubleshoot complex system issues.
  • Demonstrated experience providing Tier 3 escalation support for mission-critical enterprise services with high availability and disaster recovery requirements.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills, with experience working across Infrastructure, Network, Storage, Database, Application, Cloud, and Security teams.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
