What to Expect
Tesla is seeking an Operations Analyst to join the Renewable Energy Procurement team under Corporate Development. In this role you will implement scalable tools and processes to maximize the performance and profitability of Tesla's growing global portfolio of renewable energy power purchase agreements (PPAs). This role is ideal for a detail-oriented analyst/associate with a passion for sustainability and data-driven innovation.
What You'll Do
- Implement and maintain seamless tracking, analysis, and forecasting that drives insights and accelerates our sustainable energy initiatives
- Monitor and report on project-level and portfolio-wide costs, generation, availability, and profitability for Tesla's renewable energy portfolio, including solar, wind, and storage integrations
- Provide precise forecasts and month-end close processes for energy costs and generation, leveraging developer projections, project timelines, historical data, and Tesla-specific inputs to drive budgeting, planning, and strategic decision-making
- Develop specialized automation tools for evaluating and scaling portfolio performance analytics
- Collaborate with third-parties to verify and analyze monthly settlements and timely invoice payments and swiftly resolve discrepancies
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners to report energy consumption, renewable energy credit retirements, and progress toward ambitious sustainability targets
- Assist in managing renewable energy contracts, RFPs, supplier onboarding, and utility agreements
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Finance, Engineering, Data Analytics, or equivalent experience; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g. CFA, CPA, FRM) a plus
- 5+ years of experience in portfolio management, financial analysis, or renewable energy operations
- Proficiency in data tools like Excel, SQL, Python, or similar; experience with energy modeling is highly valued
- Strong understanding of regulated and deregulated energy markets
- Comfort with ambiguity, analytical and creative first principles thinking, with the ability to solve problems with limited information
