The laboratory of Anthony Pedley, Ph.D. in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine has an opening for an hourly research assistant position starting February 2026. BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY The individual will work in a research laboratory to assist in the generation and purification of metabolic intermediates by HPLC to support ongoing kinetic and structural evaluations. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Interested applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field and/or extensive prior experience with laboratory research and chromatography projects in these fields. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Experience with separation of nucleic acids and nucleic acid-derived products by HPLC 2. Experience with routine maintenance of HPLC and chromatography systems 3. Experience with analytical chemistry to quantify metabolite levels through standard curve generation 4. Experience troubleshooting HPLC methods and optimizing purification protocols 5. Expertise using Excel and HPLC operating software. 6. Demonstrated accurate record keeping of laboratory activities and instrument performance assessments 7.
