The University of Iowa Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scholar. The postdoc will collaborate with the Iowa Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (IPQCC), a statewide quality improvement (QI) organization that engages Iowa's 54 birthing hospitals in QI initiatives targeted at the leading causes of maternal morbidity and mortality. The operations of the IPQCC are contracted from Iowa Health and Human Services to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The interests of the program include evaluation of population-level trends in maternal morbidity and mortality and to assess the impact of large-scale quality improvement initiatives across health systems. This role will focus on applying quantitative and mixed-methods approaches to continuous program evaluation, generating actionable insights to inform ongoing strategy and decisionmaking, and regularly sharing findings with the IPQCC leadership team. The scholar will contribute to the design, analysis, and interpretation of QI efforts and will play an active role in translating data into practical recommendations to advance perinatal care. The position also offers a unique opportunity to access and analyze electronic health record data within the University of Iowa to examine care quality, identify disparities, and explore innovative opportunities to improve perinatal outcomes. Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal background check and successful completion of credential checks and health evaluation. |
