Patient Care Technician Senior - 6N - Cardiovascular IMC

6NTis a36 - private bedunitspecializingin cardiac care for patients who have had open heart surgery. We see cardiovascular/thoracic patients that arepost-CABG, heartcaths, valve replacements, thoracotomies, and many other cardiothoracic surgical procedures. We also see generalmedical-surgicalpatients that may have a primary cardiac diagnosisorhistory with comorbidities that may need telemetry monitoring, as well as those patients needing critical cardiac drips. On 6NT, we train our staff to detect medical issues before they become a problem, so they can respond to those emergent situations quickly and confidently. We have many opportunities for assessments, patient/family teaching, IVs, wound care, lab valueanalysisand medication administration/ management.Weencourage communication and collaboration in an environment that is engaging and rewarding for our health care professionals, aswellthe patients on our unit.

Summary:

Provides basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff and ensures patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Answering patient calls and helping patients with eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
• Feeding patients, measuring, and recording their food and liquid intake.
• Monitoring and documenting patients' temperature, blood pressure, and other vital signs and reporting changes to nurses or doctors.
• Assisting nurses or doctors with medical procedures and dressing wounds.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

• 1 year of experience required.
• 3 - 5 years of experience preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS required.
• National PCT Certification (includes Phlebotomy and EKG) preferred.

6AM - 6PM 12 HR Shift
