The Infectious Disease Clinic provides care and services to adults with general infectious diseases, HIV, and hepatitis. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team and includes diagnosis, treatment, case management, social services, medication adherence and support, nutrition, and substance use counseling.

The Lead Clinical Nurse is responsible for:



  • Coordinating the total scope of care for a group of patients throughout their unit stay to achieve clinical, financial, and organizational outcomes.
  • Providing evidence-based care based on the nursing process, policies, procedures, and protocols of the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
  • Mentoring and managing others to promote quality, safety, and excellence in care.
  • Working collaboratively with, and provides leadership for, a multidisciplinary health care team to optimize team performance.
  • Promoting and identifying quality improvement initiatives (clinical, financial, operational) that are aligned with departmental and organizational safety and operational objectives.
  • Identifying methods to promote the cost-effective use of resources.
  • Completing all identified competencies and annual requirements for patient population, unit, department, and institution.
  • Assuming unit management functions as identified by the Assistant Manager/Manager.
  • Consistently demonstrates organization's core values.


The Registered Nurse role is responsible for triaging needs of people living with HIV/AIDS patients during appointments in clinic, between visits, and post-hospitalizations. The RN also manages new patient intakes (including walk-ins), and meets with patients for complex medication adherence support visits for HIV/Viral hepatitis treatments. The HIV service of the John G. Bartlett Specialty Practice is a busy ambulatory setting caring for patient specialty (HIV, HCV) and primary care needs of HIV-infected individuals.

Qualifications:



  • Must have at least 3 years recent RN experience and is proficient in RN I, II, & III JHH competencies
  • Bachelors degree in nusing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required at time of hire
  • BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted
  • Ability to role model and support practices consistent with evidenced based care, guide others with plan of care, independently make clinical decisions in complex situations, and proactively assist others with patient assignment.

Salary Range: Minimum 46.57/hour - Maximum 72.18/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
