*Cable Technician (Level 1-2) - IES Communications* *Location:* Cedar Rapids, Iowa
*Employment Type:* 4Month Contract (Potential for Extension or Conversion) *Start Time - Expecting an influx of candidates needed in the next 1-2 weeks* *Position Overview* IES Communications is hiring multiple Cable Technicians to support structured cabling installation on a largescale construction project in Cedar Rapids. This role involves installing lowvoltage cabling infrastructure, supporting cable pathways, performing terminations, and building out telecommunications spaces. Candidates must be comfortable working in active construction environments and performing physical labor. *Key Responsibilities:* *Cable Installation & Routing* * Install workarea outlets for floor monuments, modular furniture, and wall boxes. * Drop cable inside walls using fish tape or similar tools. * Route cable through modular furniture systems. *PreTermination & Terminations* * Organize, dress, label, and prepare cables before termination. * Terminate lowvoltage devices and jacks. * Ensure proper cable length, slack, and labeling. *Cable Support & Pathways* * Correctly suspend and support cable using: * Cable trays * Jhooks * Drings * Bridal rings * Trapeze systems *Telecom Closet Buildouts* * Install backboards, crossconnects, racks, patch panels, fiber hardware, and grounding systems. * Assist with firestopping, sleeves, and cable penetration through fire walls. *Required Skills & Experience* * Experience with structured cabling installation in commercial or construction environments. * Ability to perform punchdowns, cable pulling, labeling, and device terminations. * Understanding of basic blueprints, cable routing paths, and project documentation (or ability to learn). * Ability to distinguish color codes and read small print. * Comfort working at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces. * Ability to lift 50 lbs. and move up to 75 lbs. * Selfmotivated, professional, and able to work effectively on job sites. *Work Environment* * Indoor and outdoor construction environments * Newbuild commercial spaces * Requires PPE and physical activity throughout the shift *Compensation* * *Hourly Pay:* $18.00 - $22.00/hr (based on experience) * *Employment Type:* 4month contract, onsite * *Schedule:* Fulltime, varies by project needs *DRUG TEST AND BG - REQUIRED* *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
