Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As a Cybersecurity Systems Expert, you will be responsible for designing and implementing cybersecurity capabilities for Navy systems. The ideal candidate is someone who actively stays current with the latest cybersecurity threats and trends, providing expert guidance on security decisions while working within an Agile team environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design Cybersecurity capabilities to meet Navy requirements and protect systems against emerging Cyber threats
  • Stay current with emerging Cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends through continuous research and professional development
  • Provide Cybersecurity subject matter expertise to guide technical decisions and mitigate risks
  • Conduct threat analysis and risk assessments on current systems and processes
  • Decompose government-provided requirements and security controls into system-level requirements
  • Support team efforts to create/update requirement and accreditation documentation
  • Collaborate with management, development, testing, and logistics team leads
  • Collaborate on Authorization and Accreditation efforts with accreditation stakeholders

We encourage you to apply if you have these preferred skills or experience:

  • Active engagement with the Cybersecurity community (attending conferences, following threat intelligence feeds, participating in security forums)
  • Maintain professional certifications such as CISSP, Security+, or CySA+ (Cybersecurity Analyst+)
  • Current knowledge of emerging threats including zero-day vulnerabilities, advanced persistent threats (APTs), and nation-state attack techniques
  • Deep expertise in offensive and defensive Cybersecurity principles, including penetration testing methodologies, threat hunting, and incident response
  • Extensive experience in Cybersecurity capabilities, including proficiency in access control, auditing, network firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, and encryption requirements for data-at-rest and data-in-motion
  • In-depth understanding of Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) and cross-domain message transfer
  • Familiarity with Cybersecurity standards including ICD-503, NIST 800-53, DJSIG, or the DoD 8500 series
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well-versed in MS Office products
  • Experience working in an Agile environment; experience leading a Scrum team is a plus

Workplace Options:
This position is mostly on-site with Hybrid/Flex options available.
While on-site, you will be a part of the General Dynamics Mission Systems Manassas office.

Target salary range: USD $112,924.00/Yr. - USD $125,275.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
