Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Accounting Assistant I for Zimmerli Art Museum. This position reports to the Business Manager Spvr
III of the Zimmerli Art Museum.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides direct business, accounting, and administrative support to the Zimmerli Art Museum, Douglass Residential College and the New Brunswick Chancellor's Business Office.
- Provides back-up support to other units reporting to the New Brunswick Chancellor as needed.
- Performs professional work requiring knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied basis of accounting.
- Handles approval of requisitions in the University's procurement system, preparation of requisitions in the University's procurement system, monthly reconciliation of invoices and payments, and new supplier requests.
- Processes journal entries, reviews expense reports for compliance with the University's travel and business expense policy, and prepares access forms for University procurement, human resources, and financial systems.
- Handles Human Resources transactions which includes commitment accounting transactions, and payroll time sheet entry.
- Presents a high level of discretion, patience, and professionalism in the performance of his/her job responsibilities.
- Provides very precise, conscientious attention to details and the ability to multi-task.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of GAAP, bookkeeping, accounting, office administration, work organization, coordination.
- At least two (2) years of relevant experience in an business, accounting, or administrative function.
