Responsibilities
Under the direction of the NMG VP/CNO and/or Nursing Director, the Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Clinical will collaborate with the Service Line VP as well as operational and clinical leaders, staff and advanced practice registered nurses and physicians to ensure safe patient care by using evidence-based practices. The Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Clinical will provide focus on safe effective patient and family centered care to drive patient satisfaction, quality outcomes, goal achievement based on learning, competencies and clinical practice. The Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Clinical will assess, develop, plan, present, and evaluates onboarding and educational activities based on areas of expertise. The Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Clinical supervisors licensed and non-licensed staff and assists with staff orientation programs, assessing appropriate competencies, credentialing for new hires specific to individual's scope of practice and staff on-boarding. The employee will collaborate and will perform performance evaluations for clinical staff (MA, LPN, RN) for key clinical accountably and performance input to the operations managers. The Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Clinical will promote unit compliance with organization's clinical policies and procedures as well as regulatory standards, and quality improvement initiatives. The Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Clinical will work with operational managers, directors, service line vice presidents to promote frontline accountability across the department for all employees. Promotes the Norton Healthcare nursing professional practice model utilizing Dr. Kristen Swanson's Theory of Caring, while focusing on responsibilities, relationships, and communication. Demonstrates knowledge, skills and behaviors for the neonate/infant, adolescent, adult and geriatric clients as appropriate based on specific criteria and/or age specific considerations. Key Accountabilities:
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agency standards and policies; supports patient safety and a non-punitive reporting environment; participates in quality improvement process; articulates the link between organization metrics and national quality initiatives/metrics; monitors environment for areas of risk and liability.
- Leads and supports organization and administrative structures to achieve department and organizational goals Mentors less experienced colleagues; participates in professional organizations; role models desirable qualities and actions; motivates staff to participate in activities related to professional development; collaborates to fulfill division goals; maintains appropriate competencies for educator role through continued professional development.
- Supervises licensed and non-licensed staff. Provides advice/information to help staff solve clinical practice problems, and assists in planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs. Evaluates programs and provides feedback to the educators. Researcher: Integrates relevant research outcomes into nursing practice and disseminates best practices to be used in patient care and staff development.
- Combines clinical expertise with the teaching of others; conducts staff orientation, oversees in-services on new equipment and procedures, and provides educational programs for staff (at community, system, facility, and unit levels). Facilitator: Assists learners in identifying both their learning needs and the effective learning activities required to meet those needs. Facilitates educational programs and conducts literature search for committees, work groups or individuals, promotes effective teamwork, and participates in strategic planning. Change agent: Develops/assists in developing new policies, procedures, processes, and competencies. Works with staff to implement changes and provide training where necessary.
- Holds self and others accountable for actions and outcomes; creates an environment where professional growth is an expectation; creates an environment for high ethical standards; utilizes evidence based practice; ensures nurses are actively involved in decisions that affect their practice; participates in professional organizations. Builds trusting relationships through collaboration and consistent open and honest communication; provides follow up and feedback to all staff, management and physicians to enhance the vision and values for NHC and nursing education.
Qualifications
Required:
- One year as a Registered Nurse
- BSN
- Registered Nurse
Desired:
- One year management.
- One year in academic or clinical education, practice governance structures, or in area of nursing specialty.
- Three years as a Registered Nurse.
